What’s worse than someone saying AI can replace teachers?

👉 It’s when the same people don’t bother training teachers to use it.
They build it.
They hype it.
Then they dump it on educators and say, “Figure it out.”

And when we — unsurprisingly — don’t instantly master it, they say:
“See? The AI does it better.”

🧩 Everyday Analogy:

Imagine this:

You’re handed the keys to a brand-new Lamborghini.
They say, “It’s smarter than anything you’ve ever driven.”

But you’ve only ever driven a Corolla.
No training, no demo — just, “Figure it out.”

You stall. Struggle. You get upset.

Then they say:
“Clearly, you’re not cut out for driving."

🧠 That’s What’s Happening Now

Duolingo says:
💬 “AI is a better teacher than a human one.”
But it offers no structured pathway for actual teachers to adopt or integrate AI tools in classrooms — especially in underfunded or marginalised communities.

This is not support.
This is sabotage dressed up as innovation.

This isn’t about improvement — it’s about replacement without responsibility.

🕌 Islamic Reflection

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Bukhari)

If a company truly believes AI can help educate — then help everyone benefit.
Don’t hoard it.
Don’t gatekeep it.
And certainly don’t shame the very people who have carried education for centuries.

🧕🏽 A Call to the Digital Ummah

We don’t fear AI.
But we reject arrogant AI.

If you’re going to claim it’s the best teacher, then teach the teachers too.
Otherwise, it’s not progress.
It’s elitism.
