Recognise how you intereact with the world
DIGITALDEEN
Every Muslim online operates in a mode.
Sometimes we are intentional.
Sometimes we are distracted.
Sometimes we are quietly growing.
Sometimes we are performing loudly.
The DigitalDeen Modes help you recognise how you currently interact with the digital world—and how to move toward something better.
This 60-second test reveals your digital mode. Are you in control?
Two forces shape how we show up online:
Intention (Niyyah) - Why we use technology.
Excellence (Ihsan) - How we behave and contribute online.
When these two combine, four digital modes appear.
Low intention. Low excellence.
Idle Mode is where many people drift without realising it. Scrolling becomes a way to pass time, escape boredom, or fill small gaps in the day.
Common signs:
Scrolling out of habit
Consuming more than creating
Feeling mentally drained after being online
No clear purpose for digital use
Idle Mode isn’t evil—it’s simply unintentional.
But when it becomes the default, it slowly drains attention, clarity, and barakah.
Low intention. High excellence.
Hyped Mode looks productive on the surface. People here are active, skilled, and visible online. They post, debate, comment, and create.
But the motivation is often driven by attention, validation, or digital status rather than purpose.
Common signs:
Strong digital skills
Frequent posting and engagement
Focus on reactions, likes, or visibility
Feeling spiritually empty despite productivity
Hyped Mode shows capability—but without intention, it can become noise instead of impact.
High intention. Growing excellence.
Tazkiyah Mode is where real change begins. Here, people become intentional about their digital habits. They are reflecting, adjusting, and trying to align their behaviour with their values.
Common signs:
Being mindful about what you watch and share
Reducing digital noise
Prioritising learning and reflection
Building better habits step by step
Tazkiyah Mode is the stage of purification and realignment. Progress may be slow, but the direction is clear.
High intention. High excellence.
Ihsan Mode is the goal.
Technology becomes a tool—not a master.
People operating in Ihsan Mode:
Use technology intentionally
Speak and act online with adab and wisdom
Create beneficial content
Maintain balance between online and offline life
This is what it means to live digitally with niyyah, balance, and ihsan.
No one stays in a single mode forever.
In fact, most people move between modes throughout the day.
You might start the morning in Tazkiyah Mode, learning something beneficial.
Later, you drift into Idle Mode, scrolling without thinking.
In the evening, you may enter Hyped Mode, engaging in debate or posting content.
And occasionally, you reach Ihsan Mode, where your digital actions align with your purpose and values.
This movement is normal. The goal is not perfection. The goal is awareness.
When you recognise your current mode, you can make small adjustments to move closer to Ihsan Mode.
