Teach Them to Raise the Ummah
- Adam Samon
- Commentary
Oh parents.
Oh teachers.
Oh volunteers and activists.
Teach our children that life is bigger than themselves.
Teach them that the ummah needs leaders — and they could be one of them.
Let them know that raising the ummah is not someone else’s job.
It’s theirs.
It’s ours.
Our Role as Guides
From an early age, we must plant these seeds:
Service over self – to care for the community before comfort.
Intention before action – to act for Allah, not for likes or applause.
Excellence in every step – because the Prophet ﷺ taught “Allah loves, when one of you does something, that he does it with excellence.” (Bayhaqi)
Preparing Ourselves
If we want our children to lead the ummah with sincerity and skill, we must prepare ourselves first:
Learn more about our deen.
Understand the world they will inherit.
Develop the digital literacy to guide them in both faith and technology.
Because when the time comes, they will lead — and our job is to ensure they lead with intention, balance, and excellence.
🌍 DigitalDeen Reminder:
Raising the digital ummah starts at home.
Teach them to scroll with purpose, speak with truth, and lead with ihsan.

About Me
Adam Sam'on
DigitalDeen/3DDad
I’m a Melbourne-based educator, tech lead, and dad who turned a passion for purposeful digital living into DigitalDeen—a space where faith, creativity, and technology come together. With over 15 years of teaching experience (and plenty of screen-time battles at home), I created DigitalDeen to raise the Digital Ummah and help individuals and families build intentional, balanced, and barakah-filled digital habits that rise above the noise of mainstream digital culture. From blog posts to digital tools (and the occasional 3D-printed life hack), everything here is crafted with a mix of educator insight, dad energy, and a deep love for faith-driven innovation.
